The One to Watch

It was just over one year ago I was telling everyone about this new model in Sydney I thought was going to go places and he was one to watch (read more here). Tom Farrelly has turned out to be exactly that. I met Tom through him working in PR and saw him venture into modelling early last year. It’s been quite lovely seeing the development and different projects he has worked on. The beauty with Tom (aside from the obvious) is he is a pleasure to work with and a genuinely wonderful man. His Instagram followers will agree, with the amount of followers growing quite quickly. He loves a bit of humour and loves to interact with his followers. Picked up by Kult in Germany and recently moving across to Priscillas here in Australia, Tom is making people notice. I had a chat to Tom to find out more.

TMHS: “You have your own blog now, Being Tom Farrelly (www.beingtomfarrelly.com). Congratulations! I was hoping you would start one, so it’s great to see. What are the plans for this? How has it been received?”

TF: “Thanks! It’s exciting to have another platform to share what I do with everyone. Right now I’m sticking to lifestyle and fashion, but eventually I would like to expand into filming videos and actually doing some singing and doing some remakes of songs I like! People seem to enjoy what I have to say so far which is nice.”

TMHS: “You were picked up by Kult in Germany and spent some time over there. What is your connection with Germany and what were some of the projects you worked on there?”

TF: “Getting signed to Kult is one of the most exciting things that has ever happened to me, they are the most amazing bunch of people and they really feel like a family now. I actually lived in Germany for 6 months after school on my gap year so it was great to get back there! I shot all over the place, in Berlin, Hamburg, Nürnberg, Munich, Oslo, Barcelona, Bordeaux. Just crazy!!! Bordeaux was shot a few days before I came back to Sydney and it was my second cover (for German magazine Free Men’s World) – we shot outside of the city near the Cap Ferret and after we had a massive seafood feast.”

 

 

TMHS: Alongside Kult in Germany, you are now with Priscilla’s in Australia and in some great company there too! How long have you been with them and have you worked on any projects through them?

TF: “I have just signed with them and have already worked on a bunch of great things! The men’s team are just fantastic and very professional! I am so excited to be part of the Priscillas family going forward.”

TMHS: “Your Instagram following seems to be growing quite quickly. I always love your Instagram not just for the photos but also you are quite interactive with your followers. How has Instagram helped you with your modelling? What do you love about Instagram?”

TF: “I actually love the direct interaction with followers! It’s nice making people laugh or just brightening their day a little. It can get a little bit serious – all pouting Kardashians and paid endorsements – but I try to keep it light hearted and fun by making fun of myself. Instagram can help with modelling, the photographer who shot the campaign I was originally sent to Germany for had found me on Instagram a month before and wanted to shoot with me, so when she saw my card with Kult she knew who I was and asked to book me!”

TMHS: “You were recently mentioned by British GQ. Tell me more about this.”

TF: “That was a crazy moment! I had no idea about it for two days then a friend of mine in LA who was also featured on the list (and is SO stylish) sent me a message asking if I had seen it. It was British GQ’s list for Top 50 Most Stylish Men on Instagram, so cool to be mentioned by GQ, let alone British one as I have lived in London and would love to go back – it’s a great city!”
