What strikes me as most appealing about the Brioni Spring 2014 collection is the fresh, clean look of all the pieces. There is the obvious inclusion of suiting but also the most beautiful knitwear and jackets. It reminds me of Clark Kent. Neat hair, pressed trousers, knitwear that is so soft, shiny shoes, a simple yet demanding tie pin and beautiful belts. The superb bags have an air of mystery with their size and shape. I for one had visions of what might be in the bags, again my imagination gets the better of me, I’m still on the superhero train. A big feature in the collection is the checks in various sizes which show up not just in the suiting but also in the knitwear and jackets.
I love the colour palette. Grey, brown (and I am not usually a fan of this brown but it works here so well), white and blue, with the grey showing blue and purple tones. I love grey so it makes it even more appealing. What I also like of the fabrics is the mix of textures and the contrast of shiny and matte. It helps the tonal colour palette lift more and the shiny look of the relaxed jackets work wonders next to the knitwear. I also have to add that the grey background just adds to the strong impression I have for this collection. Here are some of my favourite looks.
