Transeasonal Love
Taking a look at Country Road Autumn Winter for men, I am reminded of how I feel after a long Australian summer, waiting in anticipation for the cooler months. Don’t get me wrong, I do like summer, it’s the wait for being able to comfortably wear something that is starting to feel like winter that appeals to me the most. For those of you who experience what some may call, “a real winter”, you may laugh at the Australian winter, or at least, in the part of Australia I live. I recall being in London back in June, coming from Winter here and into the opposite there, it was the same temperature. I adore high Winter collections and you will see me write about them time and time again, I simply get more from a transeasonal collection for actual use.
I must say with these Country Road pieces, it’s the tonal dressing I am most drawn to. I’m a big lover of grey and throw in the terracotta as in the Windbreaker below, I’m well on the way to happiness! These are relaxed silhouettes, soft fabrics and easy to wear. A sweat pant is not something I normally give a nod to, however with the longer rise, extra room in the hip and slimmer ankle, it makes this piece look good, particularly in the charcoal marle.
I have a short Q&A with Sophie Holt, Creative Director at Country Road below. Also, take a look at the full collection via link at the end of this story, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

What are the top Menswear trends for Autumn 2016?
A major trend is what we’re calling City Gym this season where sports-styling has a strong influence on design and it’s not just aimed at weekend dressing. Looks are kept modern with crewnecks, quilted sweats, joggers, suede sneakers, tech fabrics and lots of slouchy silhouettes.
What menswear looks do you feel are timeless?
I think a crisp chambray shirt paired with a tailored pant in tonal blues is always a timeless look.
What colour palette should men look out for this season?
This season there’s a focus on tonal dressing in either head-to-toe blue or grey, with a pop of rust in the mix.
