How lovely it is to start 2014 for The Man Has Style with Kick Start Monday. I’m super excited for what is coming up this year, with so many adventures to look forward to. I had a lovely break over Christmas and the New Year, spending my time with family and friends here on the Gold Coast of Australia, making the most of the beaches and sunshine. It truly was wonderful.
This week on Kick Start Monday, I want to share with you the Poquito Wood Wallet by Chris Haryono. It might be noted that I do have a fascination with wood (see the successfully funded, McAdams Wooden Tie Bar on TMHS), but what can I say other than, the designs just look so desirable when in wood. The beauty of the wood used for the Poquito Wood Wallet is that it has been sustainably harvested. The Black Oak comes from Ohio, Midwest US; the White Oak from New York State, US; and the Black Cherry (stretch goal) from Ontario, Canada. The brand producing the wallets is Madera, and Madera means wood in Spanish. The designer, Chris Haryono has a great passion for what he does and it comes through in the design.
[kickstarter url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/506932810/poquito-more-than-a-little-wood-wallet width=480]The Poquito Wood Wallet fits up to 6 cards, plus notes and even has a little compartment for coins. I am most impressed by this place for a few coins, so many wallets don’t have this, and while it only fits a few, sometimes that is all that is needed. The precision machined wood interior of the design is brilliant, I love the fine detail.
The Madera logo has been laser-etched on the wood in a way that keeps it organic feeling. To keep the wallet in great condition for many years, you’ll find each wallet has been heat-treated, precision cut, hand polished and sealed. Another reason I love wood, is it can last a lifetime, or longer, with the variety of woods chosen known for their workability and resistance to decay.
A rubber strap helps keep the cards and cash in place, a simple and effective way to make the slim wallet design more functional. While the strap has been debossed with the Madera logo. The beauty of the rubber strap is its positioning over the exposed cards at the back so it sits directly over the card numbers and expiry dates. Great thinking in the design!
The Poquito Wood Wallet has been successfully funded and still has 9 days to go. Head on over and get yours before the time runs out! For those of you in Australia, it’s also free shipping, an added bonus!
