Country Road Moves Towards Winter

Simply Beautiful Menswear

One of the reasons I have am quite drawn to Country Road is it what is referred to as slow fashion. While the collections are following trends, each season the design team work this into the overall look having a classic undertone to all of the pieces. This allows you to get more than one season from a garment – in fact, you are likely to get many years wear from the pieces as along with the design side, the quality of the garments is fantastic.

This winter at Country Road you are seeing a beautiful palette in army green and navy, perfectly contrasted with dusted light blue and caramel. For me, colour is so important. When it’s just right, it takes everything to a whole new level. You’ll find fine gauge fabrics with longline silhouettes – you know, the perfect type for layering, how I love layering. Pea coats, quilted bombers and hooded windbreakers showcase a versatile and strong outerwear component. Mixed in with beautiful soft knit crews and waffle t-shirts, you’ll also find tweed jackets and fine Merino scarves adding to an inviting Winter collection. Don’t forget to take a look at the bags, how do you choose when there are so many you like?!

Country Road do Winter so well. The textures are always so lovely and varied. The different fabrics and textures really add that dimension to the Winter collections that I love.

Q & A with Kerrin Schuppan, Design Manager, Menswear

What styles, fabrications or silhouettes are new for the season?

“The outdoor knit cardigan is a versatile textural piece that can be layered under a parka or worn simply on its own as an outerwear piece.

Flannel is a great winter-weight fabric and has a slightly milled surface. This season we have introduced a beautiful charcoal wool flannel contemporary suit. We’ve also taken cotton flannel into our more casual shirting with pared-back styling in heather grey, charcoal and navy.

In menswear there is a regained appreciation for tradition and provenance. This winter we collaborated with Abraham Moon & Sons to introduce heritage tweed fabrics cut into sharply tailored jackets. Established in 1837, Moon is now one of Great Britain’s last remaining vertical woollen mills.”
